On the 4th December, Go Green, AIESEC Macedonia and the Union of Scouts in the Republic of Macedonia held a one-day seminar at the Economic Faculty in Skopje. There were 100 delegates from all three organizations, aged between 14 and 22. The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness and to connect and empower young people to take an active role in shaping a sustainable society.

The opening ceremony was in the form of a panel discussion on the topic: “The role of youth in creating a more sustainable environment”. The EU Ambassador, Mr. Erwan Fouere, was the key-note speaker and also a panelist. The other panelists were Mrs. Liljana Popovska (Member of Parliament), Mr. Metodija Sazdov (President at the Macedonian Green Center) and Mr. Petar Lazarov (Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Macedonia Export).
The opening was followed by a plenary session held by Laura Randmaa (AIESEC Intern from Estonia) on the topic: “Challenging your worldview”. Each organization held two workshops, on the topics “sustainable development” (Go Green), “activating youth leadership” (AIESEC) and “biodiversity” (Scouts). The closing plenary session was in the form of a panel discussion in which alumni from AIESEC and Scouts acted as panelists to discuss: “What does it mean to be an agent of positive change?”.
The seminar connected young people on different levels and conveyed the essential message of collaborative working and uniting as human beings to improve the outlook for tomorrow!

This seminar was comprised of an indoor day (Day 1) from the UNITED 4 TOMORROW – TAKE ACTION NOW initiative and an outdoor day (Day 2). Due to unforeseen circumstances, the second day has not yet happened, but we are currently preparing for the Anti-Pollution march to take place soon! Stay tuned!

Sincerely green,
The Go Green team
